Handlingarnas sken: om litterär slitning i det dramatiska

Annika Nyman

In the research project Dubbla tragedier - om att låta en litterär slitning transform ett dramatiskt skrivande, Annika Nyman takes as her point of departure what she defines as a literary rift, which is about the different abilities of two disciplines to deal with narrativity. The traditional drama's focus on interpersonal action requires that the text becomes secondary; rather than telling something in itself, it becomes the result of (and part of) this interpersonal action. Rather, in the literary, words become what meets the reading or listening recipient who realizes worlds and events in their minds.

Annika asks herself how, through artistic practice and by looking at her own practice through a theoretical lens, she can understand the literary struggle at all. In three of her works, she also tries to make the struggle productive. Annika thus creates different narrative layers in the works, develops narrative mobility in the dramatic text and evokes polyphonic qualities in it. This creates a space for combining a drama rooted in interpersonal action with themes beyond the interpersonal and relational.
