Doktorandkurs: ”Etik i konstnärlig praktik”

Ethics in artistic practice, 7,5 ects
PhD course 2020, at Malmö Theatre Academy

The course offers an introduction to specific ethical theories: phenomenology, postcolonial and posthuman perspectives. These philosophical strands of thinking are seen in the context of artistic practice and specifically each doctoral students' projects. The course consists of lectures and discussions, and practical demonstrations. There will be two meetings in the spring, and two in the autumn, the last of which will consist of an oral presentation based on a submitted text (3-5000 words). After the course the doctoral students will be able to formulate an ethical approach to their artistic practice. The course is led by Dr. Camilla Eeg-Tverbakk, Professor II at Malmö Theatre Academy/ Lund University.

Dr. Camilla Eeg-Tverbakk

Camilla Eeg-Tverbakk is a freelance dramaturg and Professor in Drama and Theatre Communication at Oslo Metropolitan University. Her interests are documentary performance practices, cross disciplinary performance, ethics and performance, object oriented philosophy, experimental dance and theatre practices, artistic research and applied theatre. She has a PhD in Theatre & Performance from Roehampton University/ London, an MA in Performance Studies from New York University, an MA in Theatre Science from University of Oslo and has studied theatre practice at École Jacques Lecoq in Paris. She has a background as performer with independent companies in Norway, as well as from curating and extensive lecturing and teaching experience. She was artistic director of the acting program at Norwegian Theatre Academy (NTA) /Østfold University College (2007-11), where she has also co-developed a new MA program in performance. She led the research project Material Strategies at NTA 2018-19. Camilla is currently Professor II at Malmö Theatre Academy.


Dr.Temi Odumosu

Temi Odumosu is an art historian, curator, and senior lecturer in cultural studies at Malmö University. She is the author of Africans in English Caricature 1769-1819: Black Jokes, White Humour (2017). Her international research and curatorial practice are concerned with colonial archives/archiving, slavery and visuality, ethics of care-in-representation, postmemorial art and performance, and more broadly exploring how art mediates social transformation and healing. Recent curative interventions in Scandinavia include: Threshold(s) (CAMP/ Center for Art on Migration Politics, Denmark, 2019); Black Light Film Programme (Göteborgs Konsthall, Sweden, 2019); What Lies Unspoken: Sounding the colonial archive (Statens Museum for Kunst & Royal Library of Denmark, 2017-2018); Milk & Honey (Botkyrka Konsthall, Sweden, 2017); and Possession: Art, Power & Black Womanhood (New Shelter Plan, Denmark, 2014).


Dr. Anna Petronella Foultier

Foultier wrote her thesis on Merleau-Ponty’s philosophy of expression, Recasting Objective Thought: The

Venture of Expression in Merleau-Ponty’s Philosophy, Stockholm University 2015, and is presently working on a research project on “The Dancer’s Experience and the Appreciation of Dance”. Between 2010 and 2013, she participated in an artistic research project on the dancer’s creative process, funded by the Swedish Research Council, led by Professor Cecilia Roos at DOCH. Together with Roos, she coedited the anthology Material of Movement and Thought: Reflections on the Dancer’s Practice and Corporeality, Stockholm 2013. Foultier has taught in many areas of philosophy at various universities, and published in journals such as Acta Structuralica, Chiasmi international, Hypatia, JSBP, and NDPR. She also works as a translator of philosophy and fiction, and has translated Beauvoir, Derrida, Foucault, Kundera, Merleau- Ponty, Nora and many others into Swedish.


Professor Eva Skærbæk

Professor Eva Skærbæk is Danish by birth, cand.theol. from Århus University, and dr. theol from Oslo University, Norway, on the thesis: WHO CARES- ethical interaction and sexual difference, 2001.

Her field of research and teaching covers ethics and epistemology, embodied, gendered and transdisciplinary. Skærbæk had untill 2015 a chair in psykosocial work and ethics at Østfold University college, Norway. She was as a result of her engagement in promoting women in Academia, assigned member of KiF (commitee for women in research) 2007 – 2013. From 2003 – 2011 she participated in Athena II and III, as well as in KNOW and POL, both major international research-program supported by EU. She is now professor emerita, living in Denmark.
