Gigi Argyropoulou
Gigi Argyropoulous' research interests include: urbanism and performance; activism and self-organisation; institutional critique; site-specific/political performance; collaboration/participation; curating and criticism; precarity and economies of performance practice; commons/undercommons. Specifically, her current and upcoming research is developing around three key areas:
- Instituting and Performance as Infrastructure: Following her edited collection Instituting: Space-making, refusal and organising in the arts and beyond (Archive books, 2022) her research has developed around performance as infrastructure speculating on emerging methods for the making of critical publics and transformational infrastructures.
- Pedagogies of symbiosis: Exploring practices and histories of alternative pedagogies and activism in Scandinavia and beyond this research seeks to trace ideas of urban transformation through the formation of unlearning social environments and daily practices of support, play and organising. Proposing a pedagogy of symbiosis as critical in order to understand the potentials of current democratic and monstrous publics and imaginaries.
- Politics of the landscape: Currently Gigi is co-editing an issue of performance research journal “On Land/scapes” and a part of her research engages with landscapes as an active element, as a focal point for understanding emergent practices at the intersection of politics, ecology and performance.
