Creativity Under Algorithmic Opacity

Generativ AI håller snabbt på att förändra hur kreativitet skapas, värderas och förstås i samhället. Samtidigt som tekniken effektiviserar och breddar tillgången till kreativa verktyg, riskerar den att förskjuta kreativitet från en mänsklig erfarenhet till en optimerad och delvis ogenomskinlig process styrd av algoritmer. När beslut, uttryck och urval filtreras genom system som inte är fullt begripliga, uppstår frågor om makt, ansvar, synlighet och mänsklig handlingsförmåga.

Creativity Under Algorithmic Opacity är ett konstnärligt forskningsprojekt som undersöker hur generativ AI omformar kreativitet som mänskligt värde snarare än enbart som instrumentell resurs. Projektet fokuserar på spänningen mellan effektivitet och intention, mellan automatisering och meningsskapande, och på hur algoritmisk opacitet påverkar autonomi, upphovskap och deltagande i kulturella och institutionella sammanhang.

Genom liveperformance, AI-baserad text- och röstgenerering, generativ scenografi och algoritmisk dramaturgi skapas situationer där mänskliga performativa praktiker möter digitala beslutslogiker. Projektet kombinerar konstnärlig forskning med samhällsvetenskapliga perspektiv för att göra algoritmiska infrastrukturer synliga och förhandlingsbara i ett offentligt rum.

Målet är att utveckla nya konstnärliga och analytiska metoder för att förstå och diskutera kreativitet i en tid präglad av artificiell intelligens, samt att bidra till en bredare offentlig diskussion om vad som står på spel när mänskligt skapande samexisterar med autonoma och delvis ogenomskinliga tekniska system.

Medverkande

Sofie Volquartz Lebech is a researcher and performance artist working in the fields between theory and performance. Her artistic practice examines affect, autobiographical writing and bodily precarity. She holds a PhD from the University of Copenhagen focused on the politics of response in performance. She is associate professor at Malmö Theater Academy, Lund University.

Stephan M. Schaefer, PhD, Docent, is Associate Professor of Business Administration at Lund University’s School of Economics and Management and Program Director of the MSc in Managing People, Knowledge and Change. His research examines creativity in organizational contexts and alternative forms of organizing, with a particular interest in critical management studies and the role of craft and digitalization. He is the author of Organizing Creativity: Context, Process and Practice (Oxford University Press, 2023) and has published in journals such as Organization Studies, Human Relations, The British Journal of Sociology, and Journal of Management Inquiry. Schaefer has held visiting positions at Freie Universität Berlin, Copenhagen Business School, and the University of Alberta, and is an affiliated researcher at CIRCLE, Lund University.

Miranda Kajtazi is an Associate Professor (Docent) in Information Systems at Lund University School of Economics and Management (LUSEM), specializing in cybersecurity, data privacy, digital ethics, and digital inequalities. She has published widely in these areas, with work appearing in Information & Computer Security, the Journal of Information Technology Case and Application Research, and Transactions on Replication Research, among others. She currently leads the NEXUS seminar series at LUSEM and is a founding member of the Inclusive Futures Initiative. Miranda also serves on the board of the School of Management and IT (Swedish MIT). She has recently been a visiting scholar at the University of British Columbia and the University of Sussex. She additionally leads the launch of the first curated exhibition for the International Conference on Information Systems to be held in Lisbon, Portugal, December 2026.

Erik Pold holds a BFA from the School for New Dance Development in Amsterdam (1994-98), and a post-graduate degree in artistic and cultural leadership from Sydsjællands Universitetscenter/Odsherred Teatercenter (2009 – 2011). In his work Erik is engaged in exploring new areas of the performing arts, mixing different genres and artistic strategies in order to challenge contemporary theatre. Most of his artistic work, Erik creates as a selfproducing artist within the framework of Public Performance (former know as LIMINAL) a performancegroup he runs as artistic co-director together with fellow-artist Adelaide Bentzon since 1999.
